Here’s some inspiration for best family activities in Majorca:
1. Endless family fun at Katmandu Park
Take the kids to #2 voted best theme park in all of Spain and the little ones couldn’t be happier. The park features thrilling attractions from Mini golf, 5D cinema, 4D roller coasters, an upsidedown house, mirror mazes, spinning tunnels and life-size games, this place is one big playground for kids all ages. There’s also the Katlantis splash water park and soft play areas ideal for toddlers.
2. Splash and slide at Aqualand El Arenal
There is more than 1 waterpark to be visited in Majorca but Aqualand El Arenal near the sprawling city of Palma de Majorca is the biggest one of them all. The park is split up into several sections. Kizsworls comprises of Adventureland boasting 12 thrilling kids-only water slides, Dragonland featuring a giant dragon in a massive pool and several water slides and Children’s Paradise is ideal for the littles family members with shallow water, hanging bridges and small slides. Adrenaline Fun has the scariest water attractions while the chill-out & Play zone features a bubble bath and lazy river. There are also special family attractions where you can slide next to one another.
3. See the Sa Dragonera Islands
Sa Dragonera is a set of 3 protected uninhabited islands located just offshore on the west coast of the island. A great unspoiled place to go swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, scuba diving and spot some amazing “Dragon”-like wildlife such as lizards. On top of that, the islands are shaped like dragons, too, which is what gave this island group and nature reserve their name. Kids will love the tales of pirate shipwrecks and they will thrill to see the ancient pirate watchtower.
4. Go cycling in Solley Valley
Professional cyclists come to Majorca to conquer treacherous and dangerous roads but there are also some easier cycling trails, ideal for families with kids. The views are always breathtaking and with the wind in your hair cycling up and down the hills, everyone will love this island activity. You can go on a guided tour for the most stunning rides and easiest trails. Solley Valley is a perfect choice for families to have their cycling adventure!
5. Find your inner Tarzan at Jungleparc
Zipline from tree to tree in Jungleparc Majorca and find your inner Tarzan. There are different circuits for families with adults and kids of different ages. Kids have to be a minimum of 9 years old for most of the courses but for families travelling with younger kids, there’s always Jungleparc Junior where kids between 4 and 12 years old can do the Piratas course with 52 different exercises between 1 and 7 metre in height. Conquer fears, challenge yourselves and have lots of fun in the open-air. It’s easy at Junglparck!
6. Go Dolphin watching
When you were young, at some point your favourite animal must’ve been dolphins. These beautiful, friendly and extremely smart sea creatures are a stunning sight to see – free and wild as they are, swimming together in groups and seeking interaction with one another and also with humans. Around Majorca, you can go dolphin watching in the earliest hours of the morning, around sunrise time. 95% guaranteed you will see them swimming around the boat and jumping up in the air. Kids will love it and so will you! Boats leave around 6 am in the morning and the tour takes around 2-3 hours. In case you don’t see any dolphins (highly unlikely), most tour operators will take you out on another day free of charge.
7. Explore the beautiful Majorcan beaches
Well, we all know Majorca is a beach paradise and it is probably the main reason you flew over to the island with the family. Where to start? Well, whether you are looking for a secluded bay or a long stretch of white sandy beach for hours of baking under the sun, Majorca has it all. The beaches in Majorca have soft white sands and calm waters, perfectly safe for families with kids. Most families love Puerto Pollensa, Cala Domingo Gran and the seven beaches at Cala d’Or.
8. Get stunned at Palma Aquarium
Not only can you see amazing creatures from the magical underwater world from up close (think turtles, sharks, rays, and starfish) but Palma Aquarium also boasts a splash pool and an outdoor play area with bouncing castle and a pirate ship. Palm Aquarium has over 700 species of marine life living in the Mediterranean sea and it’s a definite must-visit when spending a couple of days in La Palma de Majorca (like you should!).
9. See The Dragon Caves
The island of Majorca has many beautiful limestone caves to be explored. One of them is The Dragon Cave ‘Cuevas del Drach’ located in Porto Cristi near the ocean. What makes these caves so special? Well, for one, it is in these caves that are approximately 4 km long, you will find Europe’s largest underground lake but another highlight is the classical music concerts held every day inside the cave. It’s a unique, magical experience that kids and parents are bound to love. You will visit the underground lake on a boat. Such a magical place the underworld is!
10. Take the antique train from La Palma to Soller (and eat ice cream!!!)
Kids always love to ride the train and they’ll especially love this ride, going through the rugged mountain range from the great city of La Palma de Majorca to the lovely town of Soller, famous for its seafood and artisan ice cream. The ride takes around 1 hour and it just might be the most beautiful train ride you’ve ever been on in Europe (+ the best ice cream you’ve ever tasted in your life?).
11. A museum kids will love? Yes! —> Toy Museum
After seeing all those historical buildings and contemporary museums in La Palma city, it is time for a kids’ museum! The little ones will love the Toy Museum. Such an interesting place spread over several levels, showcasing antique toys and games, traditional Mallorcan dollhouses and vintage mechanics. The Toy Museum also has a playroom and a restaurant where you can try Mallorcan food.
12. Precious family moments and amazing wildlife at La Reserva
Sitting at the foot of Mount Puig de Galatzo, on the southside of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range, La Reserva is a paradise for wildlife lovers. This nature reserve is home to bears, deer, ostriches, donkeys, peacocks, goats and birds. Go walk around and you’ll not only spot wildlife but you will also pass tranquil streams and waterfalls, great for picnics and precious family time surrounded by unspoiled nature. The reserve even has a special picnic and BBQ area and you can go swimming in natural spring water. Still up for some activity? Well, there are hanging Tibetan bridges, swings, ziplining and kids can learn the art of archery or go rock climbing. Great fun!
13. Get the kids tired and satisfied at Palma Jump
Got active kids who just can never sit still? Take them to Palma Jump and they can bounce and jump and laugh all day, getting all their energy out. This trampoline centre is located in La Palma – a great place to go on a rainy day or after wandering around the city and museums and doing things the kids rather not be doing 🙂 This is a great reward for their patience.
14. Book a private villa
Majorca is a well-known ‘resort island’ but what could be better than having your own private swimming pool instead of having to share it with hundreds of other guests? Book a private Majorca villa, and you will have a ‘home’ instead of a hotel room which is truly ideal, especially for families! A living room, garden, kitchen, pool and separate bedrooms with AC. This is all you need for the best island holiday in Spain! Not to forget the lovely staff assisting where needed and keeping the villa spotless. A villa holiday stands for a worry-free holiday with all the luxury and privacy you could wish for.
