Are you planning to rent a car and go explore the island on your own account this upcoming trip to Mallorca? Good on you! Renting a car is the best way to explore this beautiful island. Are you staying in Pollensa? This blog will tell you everything you need to know about Pollensa car rental.
Well, the answer to this question really depends on what kind of holiday you are after. No, a car is not essential if you are planning most of your time on the beach. However, if you are more of an explorer and you want to discover hidden coves and secret bays, you better rent a car! If you want to stay in the area, another option is to rent a bicycle but if you want to see everything Majorca has to offer, we recommend renting a car.
This won’t come as a surprise but you need your driving licence to be able to drive in Majorca. European citizens can drive with their national driver’s licence. All other nationalities need an international driving permit on top of their national driving license.
Also, you need to be 21 years of age or above and you need to have held your driving licence already for a year or more. Additional charges may apply if you are under 25 years old. You also need to have a credit card to hold the deposit for the car. This is not needed if you go for full coverage insurance.
The island of Majorca has many narrow roads where you will be crossing paths with buses and other cars. To make the driving easier and more relaxed, we recommend getting a small car.
Booking a car way upfront can save you a lot of money. You can also rent a car upon arrival but you will have less choice and you’ll most probably be paying a high price for it. Have a look at Woif, Discover Cars or contact our reservation team for personalized advice.
Do check the car carefully and take photos of scratches or anything else you could get into trouble with when you return the car. We highly recommend getting full coverage insurance. There are many narrow and rocky roads and therefore, the risk of scratching the car at an unlucky moment is higher than in other destinations in Europe.
Enjoy the ride(s)!!!
